Building collapses on public square in Orleans County

A New York State fire investigator says Sam's Diner is not habitable. Firefighters worked to prevent the building from falling down any further.

HOLLEY, N.Y. — Law enforcement officials in Orleans County are investigating a partial building collapse in a public square.

A New York State fire investigator says Sam's Diner is not habitable. Firefighters worked to prevent the building from falling down any further.

As a safety precaution, other nearby businesses and neighbors were evacuated on Friday.

"I don't know how that's going to affect the business. They had real good food and stuff, so I hope they can remodel, or rebuild, or whatever they got to do," resident Shawn Johnston Jr. said.

Fire investigators told 2 On Your Side that no one was hurt in the incident.

The public square remained closed for safety reasons on Friday.
