ORCHARD PARK -- A young man from Orchard Park now faces murder charges after police say he killed his own father inside their home on Hillsboro Drive.
Police Chief Mark Pacholec confirmed that the victim is 70-year-old John Keenan, the owner of the home. His 21-year-old son Sean Keenan is charged with his murder.
Detectives and crime scene investigators spent all day Monday and into Tuesday collecting evidence at the house.
Officers found Mr. Keenan's body after a call to check on his welfare. Police would not comment on who made the call.
2 On Your Side has learned the suspect was caught at or near one of the border crossings with Canada. A law enforcement source asked that specifics be withheld, and Chief Pacholec wouldn't give any details.
"I can't comment on that at this time," Pacholec said. "That's part of the ongoing investigation."
The chief wouldn't comment on how the victim was killed, where his body was found, or any indication of a possible motive.
Legal analyst and attorney Cheryl Meyers-Buth said Chief Pacholec is always very careful with what he releases to the media.
John Keenan was alone in the house when officers arrived, according to Pacholec. John purchased the home back in 1998 and it is currently for sale, listed at $559,000.
An autopsy was performed on John Keenan's body Tuesday. Those results have not yet been released.
Sean Keenan is scheduled to be back in Town of Orchard Park Court for a felony hearing on the Second Degree Murder charge on Friday at 4 p.m.
