ORCHARD PARK, NY – Orchard Park Police arrested Sylvia Lenahan, 54, of Blasdell, on Saturday after her car collided with another car in a gas station parking lot.
Police say the accident happened in the parking lot of Stadium Mobil at Southwestern Boulevard and Abbott Road at about 8:15 p.m. Lenahan appeared drunk and registered a .16 BAC after a breathalyzer test at the Orchard Park Police Department.
Police say her license was suspended following an early alcohol-related conviction so they also charged her with felony aggravated unlicensed operation and other vehicle and traffic violations.
She was released on bail pending a future court appearance.
Just after midnight, police arrested Peter Szlapak, 19, of Buffalo, after speeding through a red light and hitting a vehicle at the intersection of Abbott and Milestrip roads. The driver of the other vehicle was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Both cars were heavily damaged, police say.
Szlapak blew a .13 BAC on a breathalyzer test. He was driving with a learner's permit. A 17-year-old passenger in his car was unhurt but he was taken to a hospital for a psychiatric evaluation after threatening suicide.
Police charged Szlapak with DWI, running a red light, driving out of class, imprudent speed and possession of an open container in the vehicle. He was released to his parents with an appointment to appear in Orchard Park Town Court.
