1 person escapes from High Street house fire

The fire started around 6:30 a.m. on High Street.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — One man escaped from a house fire on High Street, between Earl Place and Pershing Avenue. 

The house caught fire around 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Firefighters on the scene told 2 On Your Side that the flames were mostly contained to the back part of the house near the kitchen. 

One person was inside and was able to evacuate the home. 

The person who escaped from the home was an older man, and was taken to the hospital with minor burns, according to the Buffalo Fire Department. No word yet on the cause of the fire.

Firefighters are investigating the cause of the fire.
