One injured after apartment fire in Medina

One person was injured after an apartment building caught fire in Medina Tuesday morning.
A fire in a Medina apartment building is under investigation. It started on the third floor of this building on West Avenue.

MEDINA, NY-- One person was injured after an apartment building caught fire in Medina Tuesday morning.

Fire officials say the fire happened around 7:45 a.m. When crews arrived on scene the third floor of the 15-unit apartment building was engulfed and nine residents were inside. 

Crews were able to rescue all of the residents, only two were taken to local hospitals. 

One victim was transported by Mercy Flight to ECMC and being treated for smoke inhalation and possible airway burns. According to ECMC staff that resident is currently in stable condition.

One other resident was taken to Medina Memorial Hospital and has since been released.

The total damage to the contents of the apartment is estimated to be about $10,000 to the contents and $10,000 to the rest of the structure.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
