BUFFALO, NY--One person has died following an incident at a downtown nursing home Monday morning.
Buffalo Police and homicide detectives were called out to Emerald South Nursing Home and Rehab Center on Delaware Ave. around 8 A.M.
Captain Jeff Rinaldo tells 2 On Your Side a patient, William Strasner, 87, had tied clothing and bed sheets together and tried to leave the facility through the third floor window.
Strasner fell approximately 34 feet to the ground. Police say he was on the ground for about 20 minutes before an employee arriving to work noticed him. Strasner died on his way to the hospital.
Buffalo Police will be looking into Strasner's death, but the New York State Department of Health will be investigating the facility.
