Hundreds of NYSEG customers lack power

At 6:45 p.m., more than 11,300 customers lacked power across the region. That number was down to 438 at 9:45 p.m.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Thousands of NYSEG customers are without power as a storm crossed Western New York on Friday evening.

As of 6:45 p.m., more than 11,300 customers lacked power across the region.

The bulk of those customers, more than 9,000 of them, were located in West Seneca and Orchard Park. Another 2,000 customers lacked power around Cheektowaga, Lancaster and Depew.

By 8 p.m., the overall number had dwindled to more than 500 customers.

By 9:45 p.m., that number dropped to 438. There was no change at 11 p.m.

There was no power outage reported at Highmark Stadium, where thousands of fans turned out to see the Bills practice. There were alternate traffic plans in effect to help people get in and out of the stadium.
