ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Monroe County Sheriff's Office provided an update Thursday morning regarding the tour bus overturned near Rochester.
They say the Flix Tour Bus operated by Tribal Sun Bus Company out of Massachusetts, had been traveling from New York City to Niagara Falls with 28 people on board when it crashed.
All 28 of the people on the bus, including the driver, were transported to nearby local hospitals for evaluations and treatments. One person is reported to be in critical condition.
The bus had left for its trip from New York City around midnight.
Those who may have family members who were traveling on the bus are asked to contact the Family Liaison Office for updates on their loved ones by calling (585)-753-4455.
Eastbound lanes on the I-490 have been reopened. Westbound lanes between exits 3 and 4 are still closed, people are asked to use alternative routes if traveling nearby.
"Thank you to the New York State Police and our collaborative fire and EMS partners from across Monroe and Genesee Counties who responded to assist with the investigation." the Monroe County Sheriff's Office wrote.
The New York State Police are currently assisting the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.
NYS Governor Kathy Hochul also released a statement on the crash saying, “Earlier this morning, a large bus with multiple passengers rolled over on the I-490 west of the City of Rochester. State Police and Department of Transportation are on scene coordinating with local first responders on rescue operations. To allow first responders to do their jobs, the I-490 is closed in both directions between exits 4 and 3, and drivers are encouraged to find alternate routes. I join the people of New York in praying for the well-being of all involved in this serious incident and am deeply grateful for the heroic efforts of our first responders.”
