No bidders for 15-acre, $5 million Hamburg parcel that used to house Thruway bridge

The Thruway Authority occasionally auctions off surplus property that it has no future plans for.

HAMBURG, N.Y. — Nobody wants a 15-acre parcel of vacant land on Camp Road in Hamburg — at least not for the $4.97 million minimum bid the New York State Thruway Authority was hoping for.

A live-streamed auction on Thursday lasted only 17 seconds — just long enough for an announcement that there were no registered bidders.

The land is directly across from Thruway Exit 57. It used to be the location of a looping interchange bridge over Camp Road, which was removed in 2018 as part of a $4.5 million renovation project that replaced the bridge with a ground-level intersection.
