NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. — The Niagara SPCA is holding an adoption promotion event for just a few days. Adoption fees will be waived on adult dogs six months and older at the shelter.
The event will take place on October 14, 16, 17, 19, and 21. For every dog adopted from the SPCA, the shelter will pull a dog from the Buffalo City Animal Shelter to be placed for adoption.
In a Facebook post, the Niagara SPCA said the event is in response to recent natural disasters and animal overpopulation in the area.
The post reads in part, "many organizations are making space for victims of hurricanes Helene and Milton and we're so happy those animals have a safe place to land. Our direct neighbors to the south are experiencing a crisis of their own. As an open admission municipal shelter, City of Buffalo Animal Shelter can't stop the flow of animals into their building, and they're struggling."
Every dog will also go home with a certificate for a free bath in our groom salon.
