Make sure there’s air in your tires and your helmet still fits. The annual Gran Fondo bike race is right around the corner. This year’s ride is scheduled for August 10 at the Niagara Hospice campus in Lockport.
The Niagara Hospice Gran Fondo offers a 15-mile, 33-mile or 62-mile route, each with rest stops stocked with refreshments. After the ride, bikers can head back to the Niagara Hospice campus for a post-race party with food, drinks and live music by Midlife Crisis. If biking isn’t for you, don’t worry. Tickets are also available just for the after party.
The event takes place August 10 at the Niagara Hospice Campus, 4675 Sunset Drive in Lockport. Start times vary from 7:30 – 8:30 a.m.
The name “Gran Fondo” or “big ride” is common in Italy and typically has a big celebration after. Proceeds from the event support the specialized care and services provided by the nonprofit organization.
