NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. — On Friday morning the Niagara Falls National Heritage Center celebrated the re-opening of a historic house in Niagara Falls.
The Niagara Falls National Heritage Center tells the story of the the Prophet Isaiah, also known as Isaiah Robertson. On their website they write "Isaiah Robertson, a carpenter from Jamaica, moved to Niagara Falls, New York, in 2004. He started renovating and reselling houses, but he soon had a change of heart. He believed that God had given him a special mission: to decorate his home and its surrounding area with biblical symbols and images."
In 2020, Isaiah passed away but his home has remained as a colorful reminder of his mission in Niagara Falls.
'The Second Coming House is now a preservation project of the Kohler Foundation. Once conserved, the site will be stewarded by the Niagara Falls National Heritage Area. Restoration specialists B.R. Howard and Associates are leading the effort to preserve the art as much as possible, but also replicate much of it in a detailed and meticulous manner using materials better equipped to withstand the harsh winters of Niagara Falls." the Niagara Falls National Heritage Center shared.
See progress pictures of the preservation done below.
The public is invited to check out the newly restored house on Saturday, August 10 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. From 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. there will be a public reception held in the backyard with music, food, and beverages.
