The explosion was reported around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at 820 20th Street, north of Pine Avenue.

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. — No injuries were reported after a Niagara Falls house exploded Wednesday evening.

The explosion was reported around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at 820 20th Street, north of Pine Avenue. National Fuel crews have been on the scene since then.

Two other nearby homes were also damaged, according to a spokesperson for National Fuel.

National Grid provided an updated statement at 10:55 a.m. on Thursday.

"National Fuel continues to investigate at 820 20th Street in Niagara Falls following last night’s fire," the company said. "Together with the New York State Public Service Commission, National Fuel service crews performed numerous tests on the natural gas facilities located at the residence and results showed no indication of any malfunctions or leaks on the system. Investigation continues today to determine the possible cause of the fire."

Four hours later, National Grid said "a service man was at the home earlier (Wednesday) to turn on service and subsequent to that, an incident occurred that remains under investigation by the Company, the PSC, and the Niagara Falls Fire Department."

2 On Your Side reached out to Niagara Falls Police about the explosion. We did not immediately hear back.
