LOCKPORT, NY-Friday will be the last day on the job for Lockport Mayor Michael Tucker. The unexpected news comes half way into Tucker's third term.
Tucker tells 2 On Your Side that he said when he was elected two years ago that this would be his last term. He cited several offers in the private sector and family issues as reasons for stepping down at this time.
Tucker, 56, says it's been an honor to be Lockport's mayor for the past ten years. "This is where I was born and probably where I'll die." At a decade in office, he stands as the city's longest serving mayor.
He says he expects a special election will be called for Novemeber to fill out the remainder of the term. Until then, Tucker says City Council President Ann McCaffery will take over the reigns at City Hall.
