NIAGARA FALLS, NY - Officials in Niagara Falls called for the emergency demolition of three homes following a fire Friday afternoon.

The fire broke out at a home on Seventh Street around 2 p.m. and then spread to two nearby structures. Officials say that witnesses told them there was an explosion right before the fire.

All three of these structures are being demolished by the city at a cost of about $53,000.

On Saturday, we learned that one person is still unaccounted for. All of the residents of the buildings have been accounted for, but witnesses said they saw a maintenance worker enter one of the buildings before the fire broke out. No other details about that missing person have been released yet.

Seventh Avenue between Ferry Avenue and Niagara Street was blocked off as crews brought the still-smoldering remains of the buildings down. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives experts are assisting the Niagara Falls Fire Department in their investigation.
