A decades-long mystery solved in Niagara County thanks to the sheriff's office

NIAGARA COUNTY, N.Y. — A decades-long mystery was solved in Niagara County thanks to the sheriff's office.

The Niagara County Sheriff's Office has been holding onto this North Tonawanda High School Class of 1948 class ring since 1989.

One of the reasons it took so long to find out who it belonged to was because the initials were a nickname, not a name that could be found in the yearbook or class roster.

The owner was a Korean War vet who was the first in his family to graduate from high school.

He has passed away but after a lot of detective work, a deputy was finally able to return the ring to the owner's daughter just in time for Thanksgiving.
