NIAGARA COUNTY, N.Y. — Niagara County is hosting an upcoming event to give residents the opportunity to get rid of old or used paint cans.

The event is happening on Saturday, September 28 at Veterans Memorial Park from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Residents are allowed to bring up to 75-gallons of paint to the event. Paint can be any oil or latex-based in its original container. The collection is free for those participating.

No spray paint, paint thinner, or solvents will be accepted.

“Our Environmental Division has held several events across the county during spring and summer with hundreds of people taking advantage of the opportunity to get rid of those old cans of paint left in their garages and basements,” said Niagara County Legislator Chris Robins.  “Now, we are very happy to be hosting this upcoming event in Veterans’ Memorial Park to make it convenient for Town of Niagara residents to participate.”

The event is open to all Niagara County residents, and registration is required. Those looking to register can click here

“These events are the best way to make sure collected material is either recycled for reuse or disposed of properly,” said Legislator Chris McKimmie.  “It’s important to do what we can to divert material from our landfills.”
