LOCKPORT, N.Y. — The Niagara County Sheriff's Office will be collecting unused, unwanted, and expired medication for a safe disposal to recognize the DEA's National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.
National Prescription Drug Take Back Day according to their website "reflects DEA’s commitment to Americans’ safety and health, encouraging the public to remove unneeded medications from their homes as a measure of preventing medication misuse and opioid addiction from ever starting."
People looking to dispose of their unwanted medications can attend the event on Saturday, April 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. located the newly opened Lockport Memorial Hospital on Shimer Drive. People dropping off will not be questioned and do not need to fill-out anything to participate.

- Prescription medicine
- Prescription patches
- Prescription ointments
- Pet medication
- Over-the-counter medication
They will not be accepting
- Needles
- Inhalers
- Thermometers
- Aerosol cans
- Lotions or liquids
- Hydrogen peroxide
