NIAGARA COUNTY, N.Y. — Niagara County has announced an opportunity for the community to get rid of any hazardous waste that may be taking up space in their homes but no longer being used.
The collection event will be on Saturday, November 4 from 9:00am - noon at the North Tonawanda Department of Public Works on Erie Avenue.
"This is Niagara County’s last collection event of the year so, if you have any leftover pool chemicals, pesticides or other items you want to dispose of, this is the time to do it,” said Niagara County Legislator, Randy Bradt.
“In addition, we will once again be offering paper shredding, which has proven to be very popular with residents.” Bradt said.
The event is free, and open to all Niagara County Residents. There will also be an opportunity for paper shredding as well.
To participate people must register online beforehand, and can do so here.
Items accepted include
- Latex and oil-based paint
- Propane tanks for a fee of $5 each or large 20lbs $10 each
- Fire extinguishers $10 each
- Smoke detectors $10 each
People can pay using cash or checks payable to Hazman.
“This has been our most successful year ever, as we have seen a record number of people attending our events to dispose of paint, household chemicals and paper,” said Dawn Timm, Niagara County Environmental Coordinator. “We are already working on the calendar of events for 2024.”
