BUFFALO, N.Y. — The NFTA has once again teamed up with FeedMore WNY, for their annual holiday food drive.
Friday Dec. 20 is the last day to make a donation, so the NFTA is putting out a final call for donations.
Kelly Khatib, the Public Information Officer for the NFTA said, "Even if you can't donate a whole case of things, that is going to be enough because if everybody gives a little, it ends up being a lot. And we know that here in Western New York, they always surround people. This is the city of good neighbors and that is why we are asking to just have that little bit of push until Friday, so we can help as many of your neighbors as we can,".
The need for donations for FeedMore WNY is year round, however they say that the holidays can be especially challenging for those struggling with food insecurity.
Public relations manager for FeedMore WNY, Catherine Shick said, "this drive with the NFTA is really critical with the continuation of our mission,".
They are looking for food donations, but also for people to give other household necessities as well.
"We are always in need of shelf stable protein items, think tuna fish, think peanut butter, beans are always a good one as well. Whole grains, cereals, pasta rice are always great things to donate. cannned fruits and vegetables, and things that are not food but also household essentials like diapers and infant formula, and toilet paper are also great items to donate as well," Shick said.
Donations can be brought to The NFTA Headquarters at 181 Ellicott Street in the City of Buffalo or The Buffalo Niagara International Airport Fire Department at 120 Amherst Villa Rd in Cheektowaga.
If you go to the fire station you may even get a chance to tour the building with the firefighters.
