NFTA will hold full-scale safety exercise overnight

This will give employees a chance to practice operational and security policies, procedures, and tactics in order to respond to an emergency, the NFTA says.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority will hold a full-scale safety exercise overnight.

The NFTA will work with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security at the Delavan-Canisius College Station.

Officials say the exercise will give NFTA employees a chance to practice operational and security policies, procedures, and tactics in order to respond to an emergency.

The exercise will help the NFTA "assess how regional transportation operators, first responders, and other transportation security stakeholders coordinate and communicate following a coordinated attack," it said in a news release.

The overnight simulation will start at 11 p.m. Friday and should last until about 3 a.m. Saturday.
