ALBANY, N.Y. — New York Governor Kathy Hochul announced Tuesday new economic development awards across the state. Twenty two firms, including three in Western New York, will spur more than $200 million in capital investments and support 1664 jobs.

“These economic development awards stimulate New York’s economy by supporting existing businesses and attracting new ones,” Governor Hochul said. “By leveraging low-cost, renewable hydropower, we are creating a resilient, green economy powered by clean energy.”

The awards were approved by the New York Power Authority (NYPA) Board of Trustees. It included statewide ReCharge NY power allocations. The approved allocations of  low-cost power will be directed to 15 companies in the Finger Lakes, North Country, Western New York, Hudson Valley, New York City, and on Long Island.

The companies earning low-cost power in Western New York include Broda Machine Co., Inc. in Niagara Falls, Fillmore Farms LLC in Buffalo and Polymer Medical, Inc. in Orchard Park. Their capital investment totals $2,100,000 and created 23 jobs.

“By providing low-cost power to businesses and non-profits, the ReCharge NY program is strengthening our state’s economic resilience by fostering growth and incentivizing job creation," New York Power Authority President and CEO Justin E. Driscoll said. "The ReCharge NY awards approved at today’s meeting will support hundreds of jobs and spur millions of dollars in capital investments, helping to secure a brighter future for communities across New York.”
