BUFFALO, NY — Former Erie County Executive Joel Giambra announced Wednesday that he'll be running for governor of New York State.
Giambra will run as a republican in the New York gubernatorial election on Nov. 6 2018.
Giambra is one of a handful of potential GOP candidates who may challenge Gov. Andrew Cuomo, a democrat, who seeks a third term.
Rochester-area Republican assemblyman Brian Kolb is the only other Republican to officially declare he's running.
