NEW YORK — On Monday, Gov. Kathy Hochul declared that the state of emergency for New York state's asylum seeker crisis has been extended
According to the release, the Executive Order will continue to provide the state with the flexibility to share vital resources with municipalities.
“While New York continues to respond to the asylum seeker crisis, I’m extending our State of Emergency to ensure communities have the resources needed to support our ongoing efforts,” Governor Hochul said. “My administration remains committed to ensuring state and local officials have all of the support they need to address this unprecedented humanitarian crisis."
The order also allows the mobilization of the National Guard at shelter sites.
Hochul said she is committed to making sure local leaders will be supported amid this humanitarian crisis.
