NEW YORK — Governor Kathy Hochul announced Thursday a new campaign named "Call Out Hate."
This campaign, a collaboration with the New York State Division of Human Rights’ Hate and Bias Prevention Unit, is designed to educate and support New Yorkers that face discrimination.
The goal is to bring awareness to specific communities that help combat hate and bias, and educate on the importance of reporting incidents when they happen.
Educational events will occur statewide, in addition to campaigns in New York City areas like the subway and the Long Island Railroad.
“Hate has no place in New York State, and it is critical that we come together to prevent any person from enduring discrimination or feeling endangered because of hateful rhetoric or acts,” Governor Hochul said. “We must ‘Call Out Hate’ wherever we see it, and in doing so, we will empower our communities to protect each other and find commonality in our differences.”
Hochul also brought attention to the NYS Online Reporting Form and phone number, (844) NO-2-HATE, to report acts of hate or bias.
Lieutenant Governor Delgado said, “As New Yorkers, we take pride in our diversity, and we must tap into our infinite power to love in order to root out hate and create a culture of tolerance.”
