SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The New York State Fair is running a contest online to pick performers to sing the national anthem each morning of the fair's 13 days.
Judges reviewed video submissions to choose the 20 semi-finalists shown on the fair's Facebook page. People can visit the page to cast their vote for the 13 winners. The contestants come from nine New York counties as well as Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Connecticut.
Winners will receive free admission and parking passes on their performance date. Those performing August 22-25 will also be asked to sing the Canadian national anthem for the fair's Canadian Friendship Days.
The fair runs from August 21 to September 2.
