ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — A few days ago, it didn't look like there was gonna be much to do outside for Erie County's annual celebration of winter.
However, mother nature came through for everyone headed to Winterfest at Chestnut Ridge Park on Sunday.
Everyone was bouncing up and down Chestnut Ridge's well-known hill for some snowy fun. From sledding to sculpting, there was something for everyone.
Mark Poloncarz, the Erie County executive, was out in Orchard Park amidst the action, encouraging families to make the best of the weekend's snowstorms.
"Just get out there and enjoy the winter weather folks! It's Buffalo. It snows. Get out and enjoy it," Poloncarz said.
For the first time in decades, Winterfest also featured downhill skiing and snowboarding thanks to the new tow rope on the hill there.

There was enough snow on the ground for plenty of activities from sledding to sculpting.
For the first time in decades, Winterfest at Chestnut Ridge Park also featured downhill skiing and snowboarding thanks to the new tow rope on the hill there.
If you're excited to pop on your skis and swoop down a hill that overlooks Western New York, you can enjoy the rope tow Wednesdays to Fridays from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. and weekends or holidays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Well, as long as the snow sticks around.
