Buffalo-Niagara airport adds new resources for veterans

Western New York veterans now have a new resource to learn more about their service-connected benefits.

CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. — Western New York veterans now have a new resource to learn more about their service-connected benefits.

The Buffalo Niagara International Airport unveiled a digital information kiosk on Monday.

While traveling through the airport, veterans can stop by the Freedom Lounge to scroll the interactive device and learn about what services are available to them.

Veterans can also schedule appointments for more information.

New York State's Department of Veterans' Services says the purpose is to get more information out to servicemembers and their families.

"The idea behind it is we are at our spaces 8-4, 9- 5," said Joel Evans with the New York State Department of Veterans' Services. "But after hours, or even here, we're not here. So, somebody walks by and sees the kiosk, and might have some information. it might be for them as a veteran, it might be for a spouse, a neighbor, friend."

The kiosk at the Buffalo Niagara International Airport is the 15th of its kind here in New York State.
