BUFFALO, N.Y. — Many people may remember 'The Q' an LGBTQ+ community bar on Allen Street. Well it has a new owner, a new name, and has undergone quite the transformation. Now, it's ready to open.
New Allentown business owner, David Costanzo, and his team are putting together the final touches on Edison's Proof and Provision before their grand opening on Friday, January 26.
After working in healthcare for 34 years, Costanzo decided it was time to do something else.
The business has undergone extensive renovations that Costanzo has created what he calls an elevated gay bar with a more upscale environment.
The bar will serve a limited menu, including paninis, soups and charcuterie boards.
Costanzo has plans to give back to the organizations that are important to him, like Mocha Buffalo, the Allentown Association and Upstate New York Black and Latino Pride.
"I think it's really important to put your money where your mouth is. And I don't think our government can ever solve the problem with race relations. I think that has to be done by us, the people and the government is not going to do it. And it's really important for me. I've been alive for a number of years, obviously. And racial injustice has bothered me and the talk about it, it never seems to go anywhere else. Nothing seems to be done. So it's important for me to do something," Costanzo said.
Costanzo plans to host several events and fundraisers for those organizations throughout the year. He will also have drink specials and craft cocktails.
Doors open on January 26 at 5 p.m. for invited guests and 8 p.m. for everyone to enjoy. Edison's Proof and Provision is located at 44 Allen St. in Buffalo.
