Winter weather spotters needed in Buffalo

The NWS is looking for interested individuals in the Buffalo area to become trained weather spotters.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Skywarn is a service that makes an effort to save lives during severe weather emergencies by using an expanding network of trained weather spotters. 

The service is looking for interested individuals in the Buffalo area to become trained weather spotters. 

The training will teach those who attend what type of severe weather the National Weather Service is interested in hearing about and those getting trained will be given a specific phone number for 24-hour access to make reports directly to National Weather Service forecasters.

Training sessions typically last 2 hours. People can click here to view a list of Buffalo area locations hosting sessions. 

The next upcoming session in Buffalo is on November, 16 at 7:00 p.m. at Springville Senior Center.
