AMHERST, N.Y. — The 38th annual Moonlight 5K Run kicked off Wednesday night in the Village of Williamsville. The race closed off roads beginning at 7:30 p.m., and the roads were reopened as soon as the last runners finished.
The Amherst Police Department released a list of road closures and information for the public ahead of the race.
APD recommended that people avoid the race route, if possible. People who live in those areas were still be able to come and go from their homes as breaks in runners allows.
The community was encouraged to watch and support local runners.
There was also a post-race party with the band Hit N Run until 11 p.m. It was free to watch the band. Food and drinks will be available to buy. The race began at 8 p.m.
Road closures include the following:
- North Long
- Reist St.
- Glen Ave. (there will be heavy Pedestrian traffic here)
- Grove St.
- Howard Ave.
- North Cayuga
- Rock St.
- East Spring St. (there will be access to the business parking lots)
- Mill St. (between Main and Chalmers)
- Edward St.
- Belmont
- North Ellicott
