AMHERST, N.Y. — A kitchen fire in Amherst had caused part of Millersport Highway to close early on Tuesday morning.
2 On Your Side's Traffic Tracker 2 had reported that Millersport Highway from the 990 to Smith Road had been closed from approximately 5 a.m. until it was reopened at 6:57 a.m.
Fire officials in Amherst had received a 911 call at 4:47 a.m. that a fire had started in a home's kitchen and that all the residents had already evacuated.
Getzville 9 had reported that the fire that had started in the kitchen caused an estimated $200,000 in damages to the structure, and $100,000 in damages to the contents in the house.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Fire companies on the scene also included East Amherst, Clarence Center, and Swormville.
