BUFFALO, N.Y. — The NFTA has announced that they will be temporarily shutting down the above ground section of the Metro Rail services.
The shut down will start on Tuesday, May 28 and remain closed until Sunday, June 2 due to construction taking place. The halt of the services is necessary because they will be working on the electrical system.
This will enhance the safety and reliability of the system for riders and employees. "During this time, crews will be working diligently to modernize and fortify track infrastructure, ensuring a smooth and safe travel experience for passengers. These upgrades are part of the NFTA’s commitment to maintaining a high standard of service and safety for the community," the NFTA said in a release.
Passengers who rely on the above ground Metro Rail will be able to utilize a shuttle service provided by the NFTA that will run every 20 minutes between the Allen Medical Campus and Canalside Station.
“This work is part of our overall plan for rail renewal and necessary in maintaining the integrity and efficiency of our system,” said James Morrell Director of Public Transit. “We appreciate the patience and understanding of our passengers during this temporary pause.”
