BUFFALO, N.Y.-The family of a lancaster man who died after allegedly being beaten at the Erie County Holding Center has now filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the county and nine sheriff's deputies.
Richard Metcalf jr. died after being rushed to ECMC from the holding center almost a year ago.
A medical examiner ruled his death a homicide.
The lawsuit alleges that the 35-year-old was beaten while being handcuffed by deputies at the jail and that proper medical attention for him was denied.
