The Mercy Flight helicopter that serves Western New York taking critically injured or sick patients to hospitals, will make an appearance on the NBC medical drama series "New Amsterdam."
The nonprofit organization is excited to showcase its emergency medical brand and mission in the series winter premier, airing Tuesday, Jan. 8 at 10 p.m. EST. The helicopter is featured in a pivotal scene, as the series' main character fights for his life.
Mercy Flight sent its brand new Bell 429 helicopter to Manhattan in November for filming, helping put the necessary flight time on the aircraft to complete pilot training.
“This was a very unique opportunity for us, which was not only beneficial operationally, but a good fit in that the goal of providing exceptional patient care was a common thread, be it in the medical drama or real life,” said Executive Vice President Margie Ferrentino of Mercy Flight.
