BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Community Action Organization (CAO) has named Marie Cannon as the new President and CEO of the organization.
Cannon replaces Thomas Kim who stepped down earlier this year.
There was a nationwide search for the position after Kim's departure in January.
Until now, Cannon has served as the commissioner of the department of social services for Erie County.
She will be the first woman to ever lead the anti-poverty agency.
Former Buffalo Common Council member Ulysees Wingo has been serving as interim president since Kim's departure. He is expected to continue working for the agency.
