House fire on Maple Road early Tuesday morning

An investigation into what is assumed to be an accidental cause of the fire is underway.

AMHERST, N.Y. — Amherst Police Officers responded to a house fire early Tuesday morning on Maple Road between Macarthur Drive and St. Gregory Court. 

When officers arrived they could see heavy smoke coming out of the house  Both of the people inside the home had already gotten out on their own. One resident was treated and released on the scene by Twin City Ambulance. 

The Main/Transit Fire Department extinguished the fire with assistance from the East Amherst Fire Department, and Williamsville Fire Department. 

The cause of the fire is still being investigated, although investigators believe it appears to be accidental. The caller at the time reported that the fire began and the living room and was able to stay contained. 

Damages are estimated to be around a total of $65,000 to the ranch style home.
