LOCKPORT, N.Y. — A woman from Lockport is on a mission to get her dad to the Super Bowl in Miami in a few weeks.
Jeff Flanders loves the Kansas City Chiefs. His family says since Flanders was 14-years-old, he has proudly wore red and white, cheered and cried with every win and loss
So you can only imagine his excitement when the Chiefs beat the Titans, punching their ticket to the big game. But what some don't know is, watching the Chiefs helps Flanders forget about his treatment.
In 2016 at just 52-years-old he was diagnosed with colon cancer.
"It was stage three when it first started and ya know it's been mostly down the whole time some ups but mostly downs throughout the journey," said Felicia Pulice, Flanders' daughter.
She added, "It's hard - it's hard watching someone you love go through that."
Pulice wants to send her dad to the Super Bowl so he can see the team he has supported for decades in the most sought after NFL game.
"I know that it would make him the happiest he's been in a really long time and it would mean the world to him and to me there is no one more deserving than my father."
Pulice estimates the trip would cost around $18,000 so she set up a GoFundMe and is raising money to help make his dream come true.
"The reality is that we don't know how much time he has left and me as his daughter I want to be able to give him as many memorable experiences I can with whatever time he has left," she said.
