LOCKPORT, N.Y. β A Lockport 'hot dog joint' posted to their social media pages on Tuesday to share the sad news that they will be selling their beloved restaurant and it's property which sits alongside the Erie Canal.
Marvin's at Widewaters wrote in a post made to their Facebook page "ππ€ ππ‘π‘ π€π π€πͺπ§ ππ§πππ£ππ¨ ππ£π π«ππ‘πͺππ ππͺπ¨π©π€π’ππ§π¨: After much discussion and reflection, we have made the decision that it is time to pass the torch. We will be looking to list the restaurant and property for sale in the coming weeks. Between health and personal issues, we feel it is best to let someone else take the opportunity to build off of what we have created."
Rest assured there will still be time to plan a final visit though as they also mentioned that until the business does sell they will remain open until the end of their season.
According to their website, Widewaters was first built in 1961 and then sold to a new owner in 1972. Going through multiple different owners the beloved restaurant remained a Lockport favorite in the summertime for families, and visitors checking out the canal.
The restaurant went through a name change to what is currently known as 'Marvin's at Widewaters' in 2020 when it was bought by the current owners Brandon and Lindsay Marvin.
