KENMORE, N.Y. — After 80 years serving Kenmore, St. Andrew's Parish and St. Andrew Country Day School, is shutting down
The Buffalo Diocese announced Friday Afternoon, the church and school will close on or before June 30, 2024.
Officials say St. Andrews has been plagued by financial challenges over the last few years. Recently, its problems have reached an untenable stage.
The decision to close both the parish and the school was reached by clerical, lay leadership of the parish, and in consultation with the diocese.
“The decision was very difficult, but necessary to continue to provide for the pastoral and educational needs of the faithful and our elementary school students,” explained Bishop Michael Fisher. “We will rally together with the family of Parishes in Tonawanda, Kenmore and Grand Island to both welcome and satisfy those needs within our other parishes.
Announcement of the closings began today and will continue through Sunday, February 18th Masses.
