NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. — Pride Month is on its way and local pride organizations have been announcing events scheduled for June. Niagara Pride, Inc., out of Lockport is one of the latest groups to announce their lineup.
The festivities will begin on May 20 with the Niagara Pride 5k Fun Run/Walk. The run will take place at Niagara County Community College and include a post run/walk celebration.
Pre-registration will cost $35 for a medal and a bib (select "remove shirt" option under virtual Race Apparel) and $49 for the medal, bib and a t-shirt. Day of registration for a bib only will be $25 cash/credit and $35-$52 for credit only to receive event swag by mail.
Preregistration can be completed on the WNY Pride 5K website 10 days ahead of the event. If you would like to volunteer for the event, you can register online.
June will bring the return of Pride in North Tonawanda. Olive Street Pride will take place on June 17 with the Olive Street Merchant Association for the third year. The celebration will start at 11 a.m. and go until 4 p.m.
Rainbow City Pride (The Official Pride of Niagara Falls) will also be back this year on Old Falls Street, in front of the Convention Center from noon to 5 p.m. on June 24. The free event will include drag performers from DivasWho!; The Buffalo Gay Men’s Chorus; various local vendors; meet superheroes from The Justice League of WNY; representatives from other WNY Pride organizations; unicorn drawn carriage rides; and other pride festivities.
Newfane Pride will also be returning for a second year. It will take place on June 10 at Calhoon's Pub from noon to 3:30 p.m.
Also returning this year is the month long WNY Shopping with Pride campaign that highlights WNY LGBTQ+ and ally owned businesses. The list of business can be viewed on the WNY Shopping with Pride website.
