LANCASTER, NY-- The community of Lancaster is coming together to celebrate the life of a 14-year-old boy who died during a tragic plane crash.
Funeral services for James Metz took place Friday morning at Our Lady of Pompeii Church.
James died Saturday when the small plane he was riding in collided with another aircraft.
Metz was a student at Lancaster High School. The school band performed at this morning's services.
"I feel bad for the family, it's so sad- it hurts the whole community," Says Maria Cudeck, a family friend of the Metzes. "You can tell by all the people here- it's a well, well loved family. Very loved."
Students at the high school will be wearing blue in honor of James because it was his favorite color.
