There's an update on the kitten taken from a Hamburg animal rescue

HEART Animal Rescue had been looking for the community's help in locating a kitten that was taken during an open house at their rescue.

HAMBURG, N.Y. — A Hamburg animal rescue was happy to share an update in a recent story that we shared last week. An adorable fluffy kitten that had been taken during one of their open houses has been safely returned to the rescue.

In the original social media post HEART Animal Rescue wrote "We have tore the center apart with no sign of him. We hope whoever took him sees this and returns him. There will no questions asked. No charges filed. We just would like the kitten safely returned to our organization. He is extremely friendly, outgoing, loves people, and as his foster I am absolutely devastated that he is gone. The not knowing is the hardest part. So please if you have him or you know who has him please drop off to any vet in the area he is chipped and will register back to us. We just want little Newton back. His bonded brother Einstein is missing him terribly."

In an effort to help locate the kitten the group had offered a reward for the kitten's return of $500 which was donated by a good Samaritan.

As of July 28 at 10 p.m. the rescue happily added an update to their page that read "FINAL UPDATE: Newton is indeed alive, safe, healthy and not found at our center. Since his jailbreak, he has been placed into a wonderful home, where he is loved, spoiled and part of a wonderful family. Please just know we very much appreciate everyone's concern but this really is all the information we are going to say at this time. While we know you all were frantic with worry over Newton please know that we were too and spent endless hours attempting to locate him. We ask you refrain from negative comments regarding this."
