JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — The City of Jamestown has added a second fully operational ambulance to its emergency services fleet.

In two posts on social media, the city said the new ambulance would bolster response times and mean better care for neighbors.

"After years of planning and overcoming operational delays, this new ambulance is now ready to serve our community," the post reads.

According to the city, discussions about purchasing the "vital addition" started in early 2022. It took until the end of 2023 for the city council to vet, research, and pass a resolution approving the purchase.

The ambulance was purchased using $250,000 in American Rescue Plan funding.

“Bringing this second ambulance into service has been a long journey, and I thank everyone who helped us reach this milestone,” said Mayor Kimberly Ecklund in a city press release.

The Jamestown Fire Department will operate the ambulance.

The post on social media goes on to read:

"This is a huge milestone in our continued commitment to the safety and well-being of Jamestown residents. We’re ready to respond, ready to serve, and always here when you need us. A big thank you to everyone who made this possible!"
