Iroquois Central School District holds a community event

Indigenous speakers will be discussing with the community the New York State mascot regulations.
Iroquois Central High School and other schools in the district now use Gateway - Longview counselor to help students deal with anxiety issues.

ELMA, N.Y. — There have recently been numerous mascot changes at a number of schools across WNY, some parents and community members still may ask, why?

The Iroquois Central School District will be hosting an open discussion to the community with their Board of Education members along with Indigenous speakers to talk about the New York State mascot regulations.

Speakers at the event include Lakeshore Schools Cultural Competence Coordinator who holds a Masters Degree of Legal Studies in Indigenous people, Jacinta Garcia and Seneca Language Teacher, Jordan Cooke.

All members of the community are welcome to join in the auditorium of Iroquois Middle School on Girdle Road at 6:00 pm on Monday, October 16.
