BUFFALO, NY — A student organization at SUNY Buffalo State hosted a special, inclusive flag football game on Sunday.
Best Buddies at Buffalo State organized the event to give students with disabilities the platform to play together and gain confidence on the field.
"It makes them feel proud of themselves, because they're doing something that not a lot of people think they can do, so this gives them the sense of empowerment, allowing them to participate in something bigger than themselves and highlight the idea that even though they have a disability, they can still do everything we can do," said Autumn Jenks, Buffalo State Best Buddies special events coordinator.
This is the second year that Best Buddies has partnered with the Buffalo State's football team to put on the event.
