NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. — Kyle Roberts is into Halloween in a big way.
"From the time he was little he was watching Beetlejuice by the time he was two and you watch it like every week," said his mother Tammy.
Roberts has taken that passion and turned it into an attraction that hundreds turn out for each Halloween, a backyard haunted house.
"It is a free event we do every Halloween," Roberts said. "It's completely hand-built."
Roberts, who lives on 93rd St. in Niagara Falls, started planning his backyard haunted house in April.
"I think you need a passion to do something like this," Roberts said. "It's not something you see in every yard, I try and do something a little bit different."
The theme this Halloween was "carnival of carnage," complete with a Ferris Wheel, giant clown entrance with rotating eyes, and a Jack in the box with a surprise that pops out to scare the dickens out of you.
"It was so much fun," said one little thrillseeker dressed like Wednesday Adams.
"It wasn't scary, just a little scary," said another trick or treat no older than the age of 6.
Jennifer Seymour has lived on 93rd St. in Niagara Falls for 20 years and remembers Halloween before Roberts moved to the neighborhood.
"Quiet, very quiet," Seymour said.
But she and the other neighbors say they love the attention 93rd St. is now getting for Halloween, now that there is a special attraction.
"It's great, we love it," Seymour says. "We went from about 25 kids on Halloween to over 200."
Roberts says some people come to his backyard of horrors from as far as Wilson to check it out.
"I just want to give people good memories, it's a good sense of community," Roberts said.
