BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Buffalo's LaSalle Park is for everyone to enjoy, and now your help is needed to decide what it will look like for years to come.
A big survey is underway both in person at the park and online for you to help shape the park's future.
"Get rid of most of the glass that's here, maybe add more dirt," says Dawn Oliver.
"The grass that we use for kickball, there's holes," says Lars Lewis.
Buffalo's LaSalle Park is the city's largest waterfront park. This summer, don't be surprised if you see someone in a blue t-shirt with a clip board come up to you. They are part of the survey team out this month and next asking people for their LaSalle Park wish lists.
"It's a beautiful park. It's used by all sorts of different groups from across the city, and it really is a tremendous resource," says Bart Roberts, Associate Director of Research at the UB Regional Institute.
The Regional Institute is the group responsible for working with the city and other stakeholders to come up with a community vision document for the park.
"It's connected to all sorts of different neighborhoods, it's used by all sorts of communities from across the West Side and the broader Buffalo region, and it's a place that's central to our city's revitalizing waterfront and a place where people come to do all sorts of things from events, to play soccer, to relax, to go to the dog park," says Roberts.
There are no wrong answers to the survey, and it is also available online in the seven most frequently spoken languages on the West Side. Roberts says it'll only take you five minutes to answer some simple questions: What do you love about the park? What would you want to see changed? And, do you have any big ideas for the park?
You can also post responses on Instagram using #likeLaSalle and #changeLaSalle. In October, the Regional Institute will share the results.
