BUFFALO, N.Y. — Buffalo Hospice & Palliative Care shared the sad news that a cat who wandered onto the property during the pandemic has passed away.
The campuses beloved black cat 'Biggie Smalls' had become the unofficial mascot of the care facility in the spring of 2020 when he showed up at their doors.
Biggie welcomed patients along with their family, friends, and caregivers on a daily basis. When he had first joined the Hospice family he had came to the group in rough shape but lucky for Biggie nurses took him under their wings and gave him a brand new lease on life.
Starting off as just a stray on the campus, Biggie eventually found the courage to have trust in the Hospice nurses allowing them to feed him outside the facility.
The Hospice team soon fell in love and found an old cat house to clean up so that Biggie could have a nice place to call home. His home eventually even went through an upgraded to include heat thanks to the campus facilities manger, Chet Baker.
Since then Biggie brought comfort to so many who walked through Hospice's doors including a young boy that would often come to visit his grandmother who was receiving Hospice care.
Biggie peacefully passed away on December 12 surrounded by his Hospice & Palliative Care family who will always cherish the time they spent with their furry friend.
