BUFFALO, N.Y. — A new $22.5 million grant will help train a strong pipeline of healthcare professionals, Governor Kathy Hochul announced on Thursday.

Twenty-eight healthcare facilities will receive the funding in awards throughout the next year aimed at covering costs such as curriculum and staff attendance training.

“The health of every New Yorker depends on a strong, stable and equitable health care system, and health care workers are its very foundation,” said Hochul in Thursday's release.

The grant is part of the governor's $10 billion multi-year investment in healthcare- the largest investment of its kind in New York State's history.

Thirteen Hospitals and fifteen nursing homes throughout the state were awarded the grant issued by the State Health Department's Office of Healthcare Workforce Innovation including local facilities such as the Sisters of Charity Hospital and Schofield Residence

“Thanks to Governor Hochul, this multi-year investment will help us rebuild our health workforce in New York and prepare the next generation of health care professionals," said State Health Commissioner Dr. James McDonald.
